Since 1883, the Knoll family has run the largest and most successful full service florist in Saint Louis, offering custom design, expert designers, a huge selection and exquisite quality. Our commitment to quality and customer service has earned a reputation second to none in our industry.

But with all the success, we still remain dedicated to each and every customer, and to walking with them through all of life’s milestones and events. And when it comes to experiencing the death of a loved one, you can count on our team to assist you with compassion and respect. We understand that this is a very difficult time, and we are here to help. gladioliGladioli have long been considered the “flower of remembrance”. Also known as the sword lily (so named for its elongated , slender stem) they are associated with the legends of the Roman gladiators; and represent strength of character, moral integrity, and loyalty. The striking gladiolus bloom is instantly recognizable, its bold colors and shape commanding attention and serving as a sentinel over the memory of your loved one.

gladioliFuneral flowers and arrangements are typically larger and more formal than sympathy flowers. Common funeral flowers which utilize gladioli are casket and standing sprays. But gladioli are not the only flower which can be used in these displays – virtually any flower, tastefully arranged, is appropriate. For instance, lilies, roses, hydrangea, larkspur, liatris, snapdragons and bells of Ireland are combined above to make a stunning display for the head and foot of the casket.

How are Funeral Flowers Different than Sympathy Flowers? Funeral flowers are meant for the service, and sent as a tribute to the deceased. Sympathy flowers are small to mid-sized bouquets, arrangements or plants sent to individual homes and people to express condolences.

Walter Knoll Florist may have a long history and legacy, but no customer is no more important than you. We are sorry for your loss, and are here to help in any way we can.

We work with all Saint Louis area funeral homes, and are happy to handle all the details for you.
