There are people around us every day that are doing great things – but their efforts seem to go unnoticed by most. However, if you asked people across St, Louis if they could recall a teacher that had influenced them, they would likely have a story to tell. Likewise, if you asked about a hospital stay the chances are excellent that they would have great things to say about their nurse. Although the two professions are very different, they have one characteristic in common – both nurses and teachers lead with their hearts when dealing with those in their charge. In the process, they encourage, comfort, and inspire us. Both teachers and nurses are being celebrated in May, and it is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to let them know just how much they matter.

The best teachers don’t simply teach, they identify each student’s gifts and talents in order to invest in their lives and futures. If your child has an exceptional teacher now – or you still have a favorite teacher from years ago – May 9th is the perfect day to send them a gift. Let them know that their efforts made a difference – and that you still consider them a superhero.
“Our job as nurses is to cushion the sorrow and celebrate the joy; every day, while we are ‘just doing our jobs'” – Christine Belle, RN, BSN
Nurses are givers. They give strength, solace, and hope to those in their care – not to mention medication and advice! Nurses feel deeply for people they don’t know very well, invest time and emotions into their care, and let them go when it is time to send them home again. They are the most caring of people – and perhaps the strongest. If a nurse has experienced joy or pain by your side, let them know that you still remember them – with a beautiful floral design created just for them.
This May, let Walter Knoll Florist help you to send heartfelt thanks to the people who have chosen to spend their lives helping others. No matter where in the greater St. Louis area they work, you can trust us for the flowers and gifts that will touch their heart.
