International Women’s Day with WKF

women's day

International Women’s Day has been celebrated in some manner for over 100 years. It originated in Soviet bloc nations as women fought for equal rights; over the years the day has come to represent both the empowerment of women everywhere, and a venue to bring issues of unfair treatment to the global stage.

Men and women both have worked tirelessly around the world to assist women and girls achieve their ambitions, assume positions of leadership, respect and value gender differences and move towards more inclusive cultures. In Western nations, the gatherings often concentrate on celebrating the achievements of women and their contributions to the history and culture.

Although there are thousands of women who have helped to shape this nation, from Clara Barton to Coretta Scott King, have had high profile impact; women don’t have to be famous to have great influence. From classrooms to court rooms, women are contributing positive input every day. To celebrate all the women in your life, send a bouquet of flowers on March 8th in observance of International Women’s Day.

Because flowers have language all their own, ask Walter Knoll’s expert florists to help you to create an arrangement that speaks to her life – pink roses signify gratitude, orchids or alstromeria denote wealth and prosperity, and delphinium speak to unlimited possibility. Palm trees celebrate victory and success, and a lotus flower tells her she is wise.

On International Women’s Day, join us in honoring women everywhere who make a difference, everyday. Come into one of our St. Louis Walter Knoll Florist, browse our website or give us a call. This March 8th, join us in giving respect to those women throughout the years who have fought for equality and freedoms, and remember those still in the fight.
