Sharing Kindness in Saint Louis

kindness

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” – Aesop

What originated in New Zealand as a concept for sharing simple hospitality has become an internationally-recognized opportunity to spread generosity to those around us every day. Random Acts of Kindness Day is observed in the U.S. on February 17th. At Walter Knoll Florist, we believe in the positive impact that goodwill and compassion make, and encourage everyone to participate in some way.

You may decide to be spontaneous throughout the day and simply looking for unexpected opportunities to arise. You may prefer to plan ahead and be intentional with your acts of kindness.  Here is some inspiration – we hope it will help you in your quest for creative ways to show a little kindness:

  • Leave encouraging notes on desks at work, and include a simple daisy or tulip. Small notes telling them what makes them special are sure to leave them smiling – and may even encourage them to pay that kindness forward.
  • Cook dinner for an elderly neighbor, or ask if you can run errands for a friend who is sick. Helping someone by practically and tangibly doing something is an act of kindness that will be remembered for a long time.
  • Surprise colleagues with a gourmet basket or fresh baked goods in the break room! Everyone loves a special treat during the work day – leaving the goodies anonymously will make it even more of a random kindness they will love!

A bright arrangement of spring flowers on a dreary winter day is always a happy surprise. Who can you deliver some warmth and cheerfulness to? Perhaps the receptionist at work, or the teller at the bank – if they always greet you with a smile, return the favor! On Random Acts of Kindness Day, allow the floral designers at Walter Knoll Florist assist you in sharing random joy throughout Saint Louis, with our beautiful flowers and gifts.
